Recommendations

The Music And Technology Recommendations section contains shorter write ups (as opposed to in depth reviews) of things that we personally recommend. This would be a great area to find something new that you might enjoy.

• Required Reading - This section is much more than simply recommendations. These are books that we feel are absolutely required reading if you are serious about any type of career in the music business. They are ranked in order of importance, with the absolute must own books at the top, with some not as important or more specialized books a bit further down the list. You seriously MUST own at least the first 3 books on this list if you are planning a career in the music business!
• Reference CDs - This section contains our personal recommendations of great sounding CDs in a variety of styles that you can use as a reference when recording, mixing, and mastering your own music. Even the top pros carry around their favorite reference CDs to check their work against when they are mixing, especially if it's at a studio where they aren't as familiar with the sound of the room or monitors. Also, as your ears get tired, the way your hear things changes, so it's good to have some reference material on hand to check things against along the way.
• Music - Just looking for some great music to listen to? Then check out our list of recommended music from major label artists to small indy artists. To us, great music is music that you keep coming back to over and over again to listen to... it never goes out of fashion. Great songs produced and recorded well are what you'll find in this section.
• Bands / Artists - Here we will recommend some of our favorite bands and artists that we have discovered. We will try to concentrate on the smaller indy artists in this section, but we'll also point out some major label artists that we highly recommend as well.
• Web Sites - In this section, we will list some web sites that we personally think are worth visiting. Most of these will be Music and Technology related web sites where you can find more helpful information, but you'll be able to find some others in here as well.
